R. Dominican. A new video surveillance system is being installed at the Las Americas-José Francisco Peña Gómez International Airport (AILA), following attacks by vandals where they stole cables from the runway light system after entering restricted areas.
This was confirmed by the company Aeropuertos Dominicanos XXI (Aerodom) which explained that the CCTV system will be installed around the perimeter of the airport, replacing some obsolete with others of more advanced technology.
"Right now we are installing cameras with higher resolution and range to replace the old obsolete system that for several years operated in the airport terminal," he told local media Listin Radio.
The H5A cameras, of 8.0 MP, are being installed at the vehicle inspection points, in the warehouses and in the public area and controlled by S-13H, of the cargo terminal of the Punta Caucedo airport, of the Las Americas terminal.
It is recalled that a few days ago they penetrated the restricted areas of the Las Americas International Airport, about three young people including two brothers who dismembered part of the light system of the runway.
They removed electrical cables, transformers and other bald parts from the airport terminal's runway lighting system.
