Hikvision and Can'nX to work on KNX-based building automation

Hikvision y Can'nX trabajarán conjuntamente en automatización de edificios

InternationalManufacturer Hikvision announced a technology partnership with Can'nX, which will allow Hikvision's technologies to be integrated with the KNX protocol, the global standard for home and building automation.

Thanks to this collaboration, integrators will be able to enhance their building automation solutions by integrating Hikvision's AI-enabled devices, such as cameras, into building systems, increasing building management efficiency and improving overall safety.

Can'nX develops KNX IP gateways that make it easy to control lighting, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and other building systems. One of them, the Link'nX gateway, allows IoT devices to connect to KNX-based systems.

KNX IP gateways and IoT devices are configured and controlled with Can'nX's cloud platform, which allows Hikvision equipment and other assets to be remotely controlled.

New possibilities
With the new partnership, Hikvision's advanced AI cameras have become an essential component in the Can'nX KNX ecosystem. This means that system integrators can now leverage machine perception and multi-device coordination to improve building safety and automation.

According to Nicolas Colombi, CEO of Can'nX, the partnership with Hikvision is an important step towards expanding the capabilities of the smart home/building ecosystem.

"Our innovative solutions allow different systems to work together through the Link'nX gateway," he said. "The ability to connect the KNX ecosystem to Hikvision devices now allows integrators to offer a wide range of new features, opening up exciting possibilities to enhance the smart home and commercial building experience."

Felix Fu, Global Head of Technology Partner Alliances at Hikvision, said: "We are very optimistic about what the future holds for this collaboration. By integrating Can'nX's KNX ecosystem with Hikvision's market-proven cameras for AI analytics, we offer users greater security and flexibility in building automation. Our joint solutions pave the way for more exciting and innovative AI-powered applications in the future."

Joint solutions
The partnership with Can'nX has opened the door for the development of a number of joint solutions, including:

  • Hikvision Vehicle Access Control & Automation with KNX: This solution integrates Hikvision's Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology with KNX, the global standard for home and building automation.
  • Hikvision's facial recognition technology with KNX: Similar to the ANPR solution, AI-powered facial recognition can be used to trigger multiple automated KNX events.
  • Hikvision's privacy masking technology with KNX: This is a sophisticated security solution that protects personal and confidential spaces while maintaining a high level of security awareness.
  • Hikvision Intrusion, Motion, Line Crossing, Region Entry, and Output Detection with KNX: This integration solution enables KNX-compliant buildings to incorporate a full suite of Hikvision's cutting-edge video security technologies.

Integration Example
A sample of what is now possible with this partnership would be a series of events that a homeowner could trigger upon arriving home.

When the car arrives at the garage, Hikvision's ANPR camera identifies the vehicle's license plate and triggers a series of events pre-programmed by the Can'nX KNX system.

The front door, for example, can be unlocked and the lights can be turned on with a certain color and intensity. Meanwhile, the air conditioner can be commanded to create a certain temperature and the system can even be programmed to turn on the TV in the living room.

With the new Hikvision/Can'nX partnership, all of this can be set to happen completely automatically as soon as the owner gets home.
